Chamber Music Australia presents two major international chamber music competitions on an alternating four-year cycle.

The Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition (9-17 July, 2011) this year conducted live auditions in New York, London, Paris, Vienna, Hannover, Moscow and Melbourne. It is the only such competition in the southern hemisphere, and in 2011 the 16 ensembles invited to compete in Melbourne represent nine different countries.

The Asia-Pacific Chamber Music Competition showcases the finest young talent from across the region and alternates biennially with the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. The next event will be held in 2013.
